An air fryer can hold ceramic bowls, but certain conditions must be met. Ceramic bowls are usually made of materials such as porcelain clay, quartz, feldspar, and glaze, and undergo high temperatures during the firing process, thus having good heat resistance and being able to withstand the high temperature of air fryers without easily shattering. However, not all ceramic bowls are suitable for use in air fryers, especially those that are thinner or decorated with metal, which may rupture or release harmful substances at high temperatures.
Precautions when using ceramic bowls
High temperature resistance: Ensure the high temperature resistance of ceramic bowls. Most household ceramic bowls are safe at temperatures below 300°C, but it is recommended to check the manufacturer's instructions for ceramic bowls to ensure they can withstand the high temperatures required for air fryers.
Size and shape: Choosing a suitable ceramic bowl can ensure that hot air flows freely inside the air fryer, thereby achieving uniform heating. If the ceramic bowl is too large or too deep, it may hinder air flow and cause uneven heating of food.
Avoid using decorative ceramic bowls: If ceramic bowls have metal decorations or coatings, they may release harmful substances or cause damage to the interior of the air fryer at high temperatures. Therefore, it is best to choose unadorned and simple ceramic bowls for use.
Avoid alternating hot and cold: Avoid putting frozen ceramic bowls directly into an already high-temperature air fryer, otherwise alternating hot and cold can easily cause unstable pressure in the bowl, leading to explosion.
Stable placement: Ensure that the ceramic bowl is securely placed in the air fryer, avoiding tilting or moving during cooking.
Suggestions for alternative containers
In addition to ceramic bowls, heat-resistant glass bowls and stainless steel bowls can also be safely used. Heat resistant glass has a small coefficient of thermal expansion and a heat-resistant temperature of up to 1200 degrees, fully capable of withstanding the working temperature of air fryers. Stainless steel material can withstand higher temperatures, so it is also safe to put it in.
